Crews Handle 2nd Alarm Structure Fire on Route 416

At 0256 on January 23rd, Montgomery FD was alerted to a report of a structure fire on Route 416. Car 3 (Hank) arrived on scene within minutes and advised incoming units of a confirmed dwelling fire and requested a 2nd alarm. Engine 223 arrived shortly thereafter and stretched 1 attack line into the building to knock the fire down while Truck 221 arrived and laddered the roof and performed searches of the dwelling. Engine 219 and Rescue 222 also assisted by providing manpower to the scene. The fire had originated in the chimney and extended to the walls of the 1st and 2nd floors of the dwelling. Truck 221’s crew assisted in opening up the walls and venting while Engine 223 finished extinguishing the fire and stretched a second line to hit hot spots. The fire was declared under control and MFD units returned to quarters by 7AM. MFD was assisted on scene by Maybrook FD with an Engine, Coldenham FD with a Tower Ladder, Walden FD with a Ladder, and Silverlake FD with a RIT.
