Crews Handle Fatal Albany Post Road Extrication

At 1510 on January 21st, Montgomery firefighters were alerted to a motor vehicle accident on Albany Post Road involving a rolled over vehicle. Rescue 222 Responded and was soon advised by Car 1 (Pressler) that the MVA was involving 2 vehicles, 1 vehicle on its side and victims trapped in both vehicles. Upon arriving on scene, the rescue crew quickly went to work with tools to free the trapped victims. Unfortunately, one victim was pronounced by paramedics on scene. Engine 219 arrived shortly thereafter the Rescue and the Engine crew stretched a line and assisted with extrication. Walden FD was requested to assist Montgomery at the scene with their Rescue and an Engine to set up a landing zone for a medevac. 1 patient was airlifted to a local trauma center. 222’s crew remained on scene for a few more hours to assist the PD accident reconstruction team by providing a light tower and portable lights before completing the second extrication. Maybrook FD stood by Montgomery’s quarters with an Engine while they operated on scene. Thoughts and prayers are with all victims involved. Times Herald Record Article attached.
