Engine Runs Brush Fire on Benedict Road

At 1211 hours on April 7th, MFD was dispatched to a wires down and burning call on Benedict Road. Car 5 (acting Chief Reynolds Jr.) and Engine 223 quickly got on the road and were updated that the burning wires had started a brush fire that was now endangering a residence. Once on scene, the engine crew stretched a handline to begin knocking the fire down and halting the spread towards the residence all while being cautious of the downed electrical wires. As the bulk of the fire was knocked down, the residence was also checked for any extension of fire and structural damage. The cause of the fire was found to be from an electrical box that was torn from the side of the house by a falling tree. MFD was assisted on scene by the Town of Montgomery PD, Town Building Department, and Central Hudson.
