At 1314 hours, MFD was dispatched under mutual aid with one engine to the scene of a forrest fire in the Summitville Fire District (Sullivan County). Cars 1, 3 and E-219 responded and were given the assignment of protecting houses from the impending progress of the fire. After completing this, E-219’s crew were tasked with various incursions into the woods to hit the fire. One such incursion resulted in a minor injury as wind shifts caused the fire to jump a road which the crew was on. In all, MFD operated for several hours until nightfall before returning to service. This fire is currently in its second day, as multiple counties prepare to begin work on day 3.
