On December 8th, members from the Montgomery FD, along with Coldenham FD, hung a large American flag over the railroad tracks in the Village of Montgomery near Clinton Street to welcome Santa to town on his Toys for Tots train. Santa arrived on the train along with the U.S. Marines tasked with collecting the new and unwrapped donated toys for children. Village residents had the opportunity to meet Santa, enjoy Christmas music and purchase refreshments from a local Girl Scout Troop and the local JROTC Chapter. Before Santa was set to disembark down the tracks to his next stop in Walden, Montgomery FD was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Route 208. Truck 221 and it’s crew quickly detached the flag from their ladder while Coldenham FD packed it up and they responded to the incident. Thankfully the reported fire was nothing serious.
