With over 100 fire hydrants town-wide, it becomes difficult to keep them all accessible in the winter. In case of fire, every second counts. Finding and clearing a hydrant may cost valuable time for our crews. A clear, shoveled out hydrant’s help is immeasurable to us. We would like to remind our residents and neighbors to help shovel out fire hydrants near their homes and businesses to help us help you! Also, as the temperatures begin to fall we ask that our residents use caution while driving. This is the time of year for black ice and slippery roads! Another thing to remember for safety is home heating appliances and their proper use. Please read all instructions for any alternative heat source in your home before use. Space heaters are not drying racks and ovens are not designed to heat homes.
